‘Marcus Garvey/UNIA @ 100′ Background

Pan-African champion Marcus Garvey formed the Universal Negro Improvement Association-African Communities League (UNIA) in 1914 in Kingston, Jamaica. Relocating to the United States, it became the world’s biggest, pan-African organisation in the 1920s.

We mark the centenary of the UNIA, its founder Marcus Garvey, its philosophies, and explore its relevance to today and what we can learn from it to empower us, going forward.
